Blood thinners and Vein Treatments
Common question: "Can I be treated if I am on coumadin or plavix or aspirin?" The answer is unequivocably YES. Coumadin may be stopped for two to four days before the vein procedure, or not be stopped at all, depending upon the reason for the medication. Plavix and aspirin may be continued. Your doctor and his staff will tell you exactly how to manage your blood thinner. The results of treatment are excellent, we treat many patients on blood thinners every week.

Dr Isobe operated on my husband for varicose veins about two years ago. His legs look great, but because several nerves were cut, my husband has had one surgery to help the pain. We already know there will be a second surgery...don't know after that.
ReplyDeleteAfter the vein surgery, Dr Isobe told me that there was a complication, and a nerve was stretched. He assured me that the nerve would "grow back", and everything would be fine. The surgeon who performed the surgery for pain told me be that the nerves were cut and would never heal. Also, after the first surgery, that my husband would probably have to have additional surgery(ies) for the pain. His hope was that the surgery(iers) would help the pain, but my husband would never have feeling on the top of foot.
The reason that I have written this is to emphasize that even if your doctor assures you that "everything will be fine", that is not always the case. PATIENTS BEWARE!
